TORNÉ & BEL
INTEGRATED PRODUCTION
REGION – FAMILY – TRADITIÓN
A family history and a great devotion for the terrain lie behind our product, which has endured through generations until reaching the elaboration of our wines and cavas.
We placed the beginning of this period in the mid-nineteenth century upon the great-grandfather of the family, Jaume Torné i Roig, born in Espiells, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
Jaume grew up amongst a welter of vineyards and began to labour the terrain of the Espiells premises with an exceedingly pioneering disposition, even though they were not his.

The great and destructive plague of the Phylloxera came in 1863, which wiped out the vast majority of the vineyard, although that did not cease the desire and the hope of fighting it.
Consequently, on 1896, Jaume Torné was granted with several acknowledgments for being one of the first winegrowers to replant the vineyard affected by the Phylloxera with American rootstock.
The wish of Jaume and his wife Balbina to continue their family legacy, led to the fostering of a 12-year-old boy, Fèlix Torné, since they were not capable of having children.
Fèlix grew up in Espiells and his parents inculcated him the values they had pursued to work the terrain.

Drop by drop the Torné family bounced back from the catastrophic plague and in 1945, an occasion was presented to Felix to acquire some of the terrain the family had been working for years. Afterwards, he had three children, one of whom was Ton Torné (father of Fèlix Torné Caldú, current owner of Torné & Bel). Ton widened the property by purchasing terrain in Sant Llorenç d’Hortons.
Fèlix Torné Caldú embarked on the production of his first bottles of Cava in 1986, these were made in his home where all generations had grown.
However, produce at home outgrown him and three years later, in 1989, he built our up-to-date winery and at that moment the current brand Torné & Bel was born.
In Torné & Bel, we have been expanding and acquiring new terrains over the past few years, and, nowadays, we have come with 14 hectares of vineyards. In these 14 hectares we can perceive the three homegrown varieties of our region, the Penedès: Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada. We possess French varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon as well.
Moreover, we are devoted to grow our vineyards organically, which means we do not use herbicides or pesticides. For that very reason, our vineyards are certified by the CCPAE.

In the premises of the winery is where we fulfil the entry of grapes, pressing, winemaking process, bottling, aging, disgorgement, labeling and even marketing of our Cava.
Throughout this history, each generation has engaged their fondness, devotion and knowledge of the terrain. We will carry on fighting as we have been taught to accomplish the endurance of this story, achieving the fullest esteem for the environment, and the utmost quality of the terrain and the Cava.
